New (to me!) Stuff!

I was so excited to get to play with some new Stampin' Up! goodies this morning. I had a Stamp Camp a few weeks ago and accidentally ordered TWO stamp sets in FRENCH instead of English. DUH!  So I had to wait for them to be exchanged. :(  Stampin' Up! has AWESOME customer (and demo) support though, and they don't charge anything to exchange an item and ship it to you.  All I had to pay was shipping to get the incorrect items TO them since it was my fault and not theirs.  If it had been THEIR fault, I wouldn't have even had to pay that!  I think that is AMAZING service.  A lot of places will charge a restocking fee or make you pay to send the corrected item back to you.

The stamp set (well, one of them!) that I had incorrectly ordered is Perfectly Preserved, along with the coordinating Cannery Set Framelits. I wanted to make some "thank you" tags to attach to the workshop orders I am delivering this weekend so I thought I would share them with you!  I was able to use up some tags that I got in an old Stampin' Up! kit but you could easily make something similar with the Two Tags Bigz Die.

I don't know why I didn't get this set earlier!  It is so versatile and really easy to use with the framelits.  If I have time later today I am going to make some up with gingerbread men and candy canes inside for Christmas!  They would make great gift tags too...hmmmm! I think I have a plan for this afternoon. :)  Good thing I am a hunting widow today!  Oh, I almost forgot!  The base cardstock is Chocolate Chip and kind of dark to write on, so in the inside I wrote my thank you note with the Gold Stampin' Dazzle Marker.  It looks really nice and saved me the time of cutting a piece of vanilla cardstock for the inside!

Snow!

No, it's not snowing here but it did earlier in the week!  Yuck!  I am not a fan of the cold and snow.  I do, however, like to make winter cards, so I was excited to see that our first challenge at Addicted to CAS is snow!

So simple!  I die cut the snowflake in Silver Glimmer Paper, put it on my Whisper White cardstock and spritzed it with homemade Marina Mist Shimmer Mist.  I then rotated the snowflake, added a sentiment and BAM!  I was done!  Can't get much more clean and simple than that, huh? :)

Ornamental Greens

This Saturday marks the beginning of deer hunting for Brett and his beloved shot gun.  In other words, I will be a hunting widow. :(  The colors for our challenge at Color Me Beautiful this week just SCREAMED camouflage, so I decided to go in that direction.

Don't they just look woodsy?  I haven't inked of the ole classic Lovely as a Tree lately, so I thought this was a good time to pull it out and dust it off.

For the background, I started with Shimmer White Cardstock. It is my absolute favorite!  I spritzed it with water then dropped reinkers directly onto it.  I then blotted it with a paper towel, dried it with my heat tool and spritzed it with my homemade Crumb Cake Shimmer Spritz to give it some more shimmer.  Then I stamped the swirls over the top. 

The tree is stamped on a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that is on the inside of the card. I cut the ornament through both layers of cardstock so the tree and sentiment could peek through. I actually forgot I was cutting through the card too and only did the top layer the first time. It was SO easy to put it back on top of the card front and run it back through together. The framelit fit nicely in the cut portion and didn't slide at all!  The tree is covered with Dazzling Details to add some glimmer.  I've decided to call this card Elegant Camo. :)

Give Thanks

With Thanksgiving right around the corner (how can it be here already?!), I decided it was time to make a card that gives thanks.  The color combo at The Paper Players went perfectly with the stamp sets and theme I had in mine.  I also used the layout from retrosketches.

I was excited to pull out the FREE stamp set that I got at Regionals last weekend.  That makes 3 out of the 5 stamps in the set that I have used!  Not too bad considering I have owned it for less than a week. I love it when I find myself using all of the stamps in a set, not just one or two.

I used the rock-n-roll technique on the technique on the leaves, cut them out and spritzed them with Crumb Cake Shimmer Spritz that I made. I know, you are probably sick of hearing about this stuff!  I'm not kidding...go make some and try it. You will be addicted too!  The middle leaf is popped up on a Dimensional for an added layer.  I didn't have any twine that coordinated so I made my own by sponging More Mustard ink on white Baker's Twine.  This is a great way to get twine in any color you want.  It works with white ribbon too!

Fast Flower Fun

I am really excited about this card because I really feel like it gets back to my roots of SIMPLE and STRESSFREE stamping!  It actually hardly has any stamping at all.  Maybe that is why I like it so much because I didn't have a big mess to clean up after I was done! Oh, and it has flowers, which I have really been neglecting here lately since it is now fall and Christmas is just around the corner.  I used the challenge over at The Friday Mashup! for this one. The challenge is to make a project using dry embossing and the colors Basic Black, Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight.  I decided to make a sympathy card. 

I thought the gray and black were good for a sympathy card and then the daffodil kind of brightened it up a bit.  The funny thing is, when Brett saw it he was like "Aww, you're here for me!"  I laughed and said it was a sympathy card and he didn't need my sympathy. :)  So then he asks who I'm sending it to...ummm, I'm supposed to give my cards away?  Oops!  I am really bad at that!  I make them and throw them in a big basket!  Occasionally I will have a customer buy some, but most of them just sit there!  I need to get into the habit of mailing out a few every day.  You never know; maybe it could help my business grow!

Getting down to business!

For once I actually spent the morning actually working on my business instead of playing. :)  I did want to participate in a few challenges though, so I picked an easy one at Less is More and combined it with the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary's!

The challenge at Less is More is to do a one layer card with houses. Well, I don't have any houses, but I do have bird cages.  Those are houses for birds, right?  They are today anyway! lol :)

I sponged Midnight Muse ink into a frame I made with the Labels Collection Framelits.  I then used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get my bird cages...er, houses...exactly where I wanted them, as well as for adding the birds and sentiment.  So simple!  I did think it need a little ribbon at the top, just to hang the one birdhouse from. :)  I haven't played with this set in a while and it is really fun!

November Card Camp and Scrap Camp

The next Card Camp will be Friday, November 30th. This month you can come any time after 10 am. We will be creating Christmas cards using the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin' Kit found on page 9 of the Holiday Catalog. I have broken up the cost into different categories, depending on how many cards you would like to make. All costs include envelopes.

I will be ordering supplies PROMPTLY at 8:00 am next Wednesday, November 21st to ensure the materials are here on time. I MUST have your payment by then.

If you are unable to make the class, you can order kits from me for the same prices listed above. I will have all of the materials cut and embossed. I just cannot stamp images. This is also a great option if you ARE coming to the class to do some of your cards but would like to put together more at home. These are mailable cards that should not require any additional postage, and can easily be assembled at home!

Scrap Camp will also be meeting on November 30th. This is the last session of this round. Look for more information in December regarding my new style of Scrap Camp that I will be starting in January!

Posting early...or is it late?

Well, it is late here, but I'm posting this earlier than I was planning. That's what I was trying to say! :) I was planning on this being my Wednesday post, but I will be home most of the morning tomorrow so I will be sure to make some time to make some more cards. :)  Blogger is not being my friend tonight so I am going to keep this short before it shuts me down AGAIN!

I am entering this card in challenges at Black Tie Fridays, Hand-Stamped Sentiments and Dynamic Duos.

When I look at these challenges, they don't seem to go together much at all!  Funny how my card turned out and fits all of them though. :)

The masking that I did is reverse masking. I die cut the snowflakes and used the negative part for the mask. I then spritzed some of my homemade shimmer spritz in Cherry Cobbler and and Crumb Cake to get the darker snowflakes you see in the background.  I layered Sahara Sand snowflakes over it for a 3D effect.  For the button, I spritzed it with the Cherry Cobbler spritz, then covered it with Crystal Effects to keep the color from rubbing off. I then filled it with rhinestones and added more Crystal Effects to keep them in place.  I wish you could see it, but I also did reverse masking on the tag with just the Crumb Cake. It is very subtle and looks so much better in person!

I hate to do this but Blogger is not working for me tonight, so I will have to come back and post  my supply list tomorrow!  Sorry!

Regional Swaps

I just love everything about Julie's card...the colors, the layout, the texture, the trees. Now I have to go buy those trees!  This was my favorite card of all, not that I'm playing favorites. :)  Okay, I am!  Love it, Julie!

I love Chris's use of non-traditional colors for this Christmas card.  Isn't that the cutest idea for the ornament?  I really like how she has the little scene inside of it. It reminds me of a little snow globe!

I loved this stamp set as soon as I saw it in the catalog and I think it looks so elegant embossed in gold on the Early Espresso cardstock.  Love the DSP Gayle chose to go with the it too. It all ties together so nicely!

Addicted to Red and White!

That's the challenge at Addicted to Stamps & More and this is the perfect time of year for it!  I decided to go along with the Clean and Simple Holiday Card at SUO Challenges when I was working on my card. 

The sentiment is from the set I got free at Regionals, Seasonal Sayings.  I am getting a lot of use out of this set!  I just love the variety of fonts.  For the snowflake background, I embossed Whisper White cardstock with Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  I was going to just put dots of Red Dazzling Details on the snowflakes, but I accidentally smudged it.  A happy mistake though because I ended up just blending all of it with my finger and I love the outcome!  The ornament is stamped in Real Red ink, covered with the 2-Way Glue Pen and then Dazzling Diamonds.  Really easy to do and I think it really adds to the elegance of the card.

Ten-Minute Tuesdays

CAS(E) this Sketch! is the perfect challenge site for my Ten-Minute Tuesdays!  I loved the sketch again this week. 

I thought some of the tiny images from Every Little Bit would be perfect in those little circles. 

I love those little penguins!  I don't use this set nearly enough.  The center circle has the snowflakes in Pool Party, along with the sentiment from Joyous Occasions. I smudged some Dazzling Details on the center circles and also used it to give the penguins some snow to stand on. 

I layered two different ribbons to get the little scallops around the Pool Party ribbon.  The scallops are from Basic Black Scalloped Polka Dot Ribbon.  I tried both of them individually, but decided I liked it best layered!

Using up my scraps!

Okay, I lied. I promised to post some of my favorite swaps from regionals today.  Well, I was cleaning up my scraps and decided to use some of them on another card. Then I remembered I needed to design my card for the design team at Addicted to Stamps & More.  Then I decided to put together the little box favor they gave us a Regionals.  So I completely forgot to get my pictures!  I promise I will post some tomorrow!  I really promise this time!  I promise! lol

We used Clockworks on all of our items at Regionals, so I decided to pull it out today since it's been a while!  I love this one for some collage stamping!  This was a really simple card...especially since I was using up my leftovers!

Time to get back to work!

Is it really work?  Well, yes, but it is FUN work!  I just love my job!  I had a whole day of Stampin' Up! fun at the Regional event in Lansing on Saturday, and my workshop yesterday, so  I haven't had any time to actually stamp.  I am cutting it close with the challenges at Hand Stamped Sentiments and Freshly Made Sketches this week!

 

I've been doing a lot of fall and Christmas cards lately, so I decided I wanted to do just an ordinary, all-occasion card.   This "Celebrate" card can be used for lots of things!  The best part of this card is that I received this stamp set, Seasonal Sayings, as part of the Prize Patrol on Saturday!  EVERYONE in attendance got one!  Stampin' Up! is so good to us.  I just love being part of the Stampin' Up! family. This card was so easy and super fun!  I used a splatter technique that I learned at Regionals that is much less messy than the way I usually do it!  Put some rubbing alcohol and ink refill (I used More Mustard) in an empty container and swirl it around to mix it.  Pick up the mix with your Aqua Painter and drop it over the top of your cardstock.  So easy!  And no mess!  I wanted a little bit of Eggplant on there too, so I used the Color Spritzer for that.  The hot-air balloons are stamped on DSP and cut out.  Fun and easy!

My family is growing!

My Stampin' Up! family that is!  Today I welcomed three new downline to my family; Mandy, Sheila and Laura.  Welcome girls!  I had so much fun today.  I am exhausted though, so I am going to have to be quick with my post tonight. I still have to pack for tomorrow's workshop and practice the solo I am singing at church tomorrow morning! Plus I am on Praise Team so I have to be at church early.  This night looks like it might be longer than I had originally planned. :(

I really loved the sketch at Mojo Monday this week.  When haven't I though? :)

I had originally made a different card, but then realized I had used the wrong sketch!  I don't know where I came up with the sketch I used because I drew it out from the site. I must not be very good at copying!  I came up with one for this sketch though. :)

For the background, I inked up the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder with Basic Gray ink and then ran it through the Big Shot. I love this effect!  I think it looks especially classy with the gray!  The back banner and flower rosette are Riding Hood Red cardstock that I crinkled and then spritzed with my homemade silver Smooch Spritz.  You sure have been seeing that a lot, huh? :)  The flower is made with the largest flower on the Fun Flowers Bigz Die.  I punched out three of them and glued them together after scrunching them up.  The gray behind the sentiment was stamped off to get a lighter background for the sentiment. I haven't used Perfectly Penned in awhile and I thought it really added to the classy look of this card!

Lansing Regional!

Yeah!  I have so been looking forward to this girls' day away!  I have been so stressed out about things lately, and this is just what I need.  I wanted to share with you the swaps that I made to take.  Two of them were designed off of cards that I had previously posted, if they look somewhat familiar!  The third is the gingerbread card I posted last week. I will show it again just so you don't have to go searching for it!

This first card is for an organized Christmas swap I am in.  I had to make 38 of these puppies!  I got stamper's shoulder after stamping all of those snowflakes!

These next two are for general swapping.  I did all Christmas cards this time because I am just in the mood for it!  I did 16 of each of these.

Only Orange

Oh, wait...that was one of Stampin' Up!'s old, retired colors!  The cue word this week at CASology is orange though, and we have a few of them!  I am not really a fan of the color orange, unless it is a deep, rich orange, so I decided to go that route.

I had lots of  negative space leaves left over from the leaves I die cut for my workshop yesterday, so I decided to put one of them to use and use it as a stencil.  I started by sponging the center with Pumpkin Pie, then Tangerine Tango in the center and Cajun Craze along the outside.  Of course, I made a boo boo and got a little bit of ink on the outside of my stencil, so I covered it up by sponging the whole thing lightly, then spritzing with Tangerine Tango.  Oh, and I couldn't resist spraying some Crumb Cake Shimmer Mist over that too, before stamping the sentiment. :)  For the ribbon, I punched two small holes in the corner and threaded the ribbon through them like a button and tied it in a knot.  Much easier than trying to use adhesive!

Fall Workshop Card

I am so excited to be going to Stampin' Up!'s Regional event in Lansing, MI tomorrow!  I have all of my swaps ready to go and can't wait to show you some of the swaps I will be getting back from all of the talented ladies there.  Tomorrow I will show you the ones that I made to swap with.

For today, I wanted to share with you a card I am doing at a workshop on Sunday.  The hostess had requested one fall and one Christmas card.  She is having 10-14 people, so I needed to keep them both fairly simple.  For the Christmas card, I CASE'd a card that is in our demonstrator magazine, Stampin' Success!  Just another perk of being a demonstrator...you don't even have to come up with any ideas if you don't want to; they give us plenty of resources!  For the fall card, I wanted to use the theme challenge  from  The Paper Players.

 

I thought it would be great to show the ladies how to make the realistic leaves that I have been loving lately, so I came up with this super easy card.

For the background, I inked up one of our acrylic blocks with More Mustard and then sponged Cajun Craze around the edges.  It didn't ink up perfectly the first time, but I was easily able to ink it up a few more times since it is clear!  Here is a closer look at the leaf:

I spritzed mine with my homemade Crumb Cake Shimmer Spritz.  I am addicted to that stuff!  I can't wait to show the ladies at the workshop how to make these beautiful leaves.  I think they will be really impressed!

Candy Cane Hues

It's time for another challenge at Color Me Beautiful and it is gorgeous! 

You know I have been on a roll making Christmas cards, and this one was no exception.  The color combination is called Candy Cane Hues, so I just HAD to make another Christmas card. :)  I had originally made a different card, which I am sure I will share with you at some point, but I just wasn't happy with it so I started over and went with something completely different!

The effect I used with the Top Note die is called Bargello.  Although I kind of just did mine by memory of the technique, you can find directions for the true technique here.  I used Primrose Petals and Very Vanilla Cardstock, and Real Red DSP from the Brights Paper Stack.  I wanted some texture for the background, so I embossed a 5 1/4"x4" sheet of Soft Suede cardstock in the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and sponged it with Soft Suede ink.  I was able to get a little bit of the Sahara Sand in there on the gingerbread man and ink sponged around the sentiment.  Sometimes it is so hard to get five colors on one card!  This one was a little easier since there were three neutrals and the Primrose Petals and Real Red just look so good together.  I never would have paired those together so I love challenges like this!

Day 3 of No Heat!

Yes, that is right...three days without heat.  I am trying to be thankful for at least having a roof over my head, but this is getting kind of ridiculous!  It looks like they are going to be able to get it working for awhile, but are pretty sure we are going to need a new furnace before too long.  Yippee skippy!  That will definitely cut into my stamping budget. :(

Even though I have been cold, it has not stopped me from stamping!  I needed to do some cheery stamping today so I used this sketch from Nacho Average Challenges:

I thought this looked like a fun sketch! My card doesn't look like something that I usually do, but it is cheery at least. :)

I had some scraps of Summer Smooches DSP left over from my last Scrap Club and they worked perfectly for my happy card!  Couldn't resist embossing the card base for some texture.  It just looked so plain without it!  I don't usually wrap a ribbon all the way around a card like this, but it's really easy to do with the skinny ribbon. I need to get some more colors of that stuff...after I buy my new furnace. ;)
