It's one of my favorite times of the month...the first Monday of the month! That means it is time for another edition of The Stamp Review Crew blog hop!!! You can also check us out on the third Monday of each month for another round of blog hopping fun. But this time we are using Hearts a Flutter, a great set for one of my favorite upcoming holidays, Valentine's Day. I am sure you will find lots of great ideas for this set! You should have just come from the blog of the amazing
Heidi Baks. Didn't you just love her projects? I cannot get enough of her blog. She always has amazing work to share! If you are just starting here or came from somewhere else, don't fret! You can find the rest of the participants in the hop at the bottom of my post! Or, if you are like me and tend to get lost no matter WHERE you go, you can always find the blog roll at The
Stamp Review Crew website. :)
For my project, I actually created a Happy New Year jar. I don't really know the official name, but you may have seen them pinned on Pinterest. Basically, it is a jar that you write fun and exciting things that happen in your life throughout the year and put them in a jar. Then on New Year's Eve, you can read them and think back on all of the great things that the year brought you. I wanted to make one for my family to do, and thought this would be a great way to make it look adorable and remind us to actually use it. :)

Janae (my 9 year old daughter) helped me to pick out the colors: Basic Black, Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay and Silver. I think they look great together! I don't remember where the little wooden sticks came from, but I remember when I saw them I thought "Ooohhh, I better save these in case I have a project that I NEED them for!" Now, it rarely happens that I actually use any of the things that I save for later use, but it wasn't too long ago that these little guys appeared so I actually lucked out this time! You could easily use little wooden dowels instead, but it sure was nice to put some of my salvaged goodies to use. :) They were originally just wood, but I painted them black to coordinate with my project better.
My Circle Framelits were perfect to cover the lid. Brett bought a bunch of canning jars to can venison but we decided to turn it all into burger this year since we still had a lot of canned meat left over from last year, so those guys made it into my "Save for later crafting purposes" pile as well. :) So much for cleaning out my scrapping area during the holidays. It is starting to fill up again already! lol I used the Adhesive Sheets to glue everything together on my belly band and to the jar. You can't see it at all through the jar and it holds really well, especially to the Silver Glimmer Paper which is sometimes difficult to get to stick to other layers. For the cards that we will write on, I used the Label Framelit to die cut the cards and then stamped a heart on each one and punched a hole in the corner so I could hang them on a key ring and loop around the stick so they don't get lost.
I hope you enjoyed my project. I had a ton of fun with it! You can click on the following links to get you to either the next blog, the wonderfully talented
Kerry Willard Bray or take you back to
Heidi's blog. Make sure you get around to visiting and commenting on everyone's blog. There are a lot of awesome projects to check out!
