Take Two!

Have you made a card that you absolutely hated and had to start completely over?  That happened to me today!  I had three challenges I wanted to use on my card today: Color Throwdown, Black Tie Fridays and Create with Connie and Mary
2012 Create Thursday-009

I don't have too many bird sets to work with, so I started with Betsy's Blossoms, which I haven't used in quite a while.  I thought it might make a different Christmas card.  Different it is!  I will show it to you, even though I don't much care for it!  It's pretty simple, which I like, but just doesn't work for me. :)

Stamp Sets: Betsy's Blossoms, More Merry Messages
Cardstock: Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Gumball Green, Black StazOn, Riding Hood Red
Tools: 2 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder
Accessories: Regals DSP Stack, Dimensionals

Soooo, I took another look through my stash and decided that these colors would work nicely with Snow Much Fun, and there are some birds in that set too!  I am much happier with the results of this card!

I colored the snowman by picking up the color from the end of Watercolor Wonder Crayons with my Aqua Painter. There is not a crayon in Gumball Green, so I used Garden Green and it is a very close match to the Gumball Green ribbon!  I used some Dazzling Details to add some snow on the ground and around the snowman and birds.  I wasn't sure where to put my sentiment, so I put it on the little tag for the snowman to hold.  I thought it looked pretty cute there!

  6. I love the snowman with the tag in his hand. And the flip of the sketch is great. And the watercoloring looks awesome - it hadn't even occurred to me that we don't have in-color watercolor crayons. The other card for me is much more spring - put a Happy Birthday on it and it would be perfect. I'm so glad you joined our sketch challenge this week at Create with Connie & Mary!

  7. Shana, Just love your cute little snowman. I too am a sucker for them! In fact one of my favorite kid books is, What Do Snowman Do at Night? So much fun!! I really love how your card came together. I do love the bird used in the first one, and the colors of it, but can also see why you felt the way you did!! Ha, I tossed three cards one time before one came out that I loved!! Thanks for playing with us at Black Tie Fridays

  9. I think both cards are great Shana! I love your non-traditional stamp for Christmas and I just love the rich colours you've used on your second card - so I'm torn between them both! Thanks for joining us at Create with Connie & Mary this week!
