It's Raining...Again

I don't know what happened to the sunshine and 67 degrees they said we were supposed to get today, but it is about 45 degrees and raining!  I had big plans to be outside today. :( At least this weather gives me excuse to stay inside and make a card while Brett is outside working with the kids on their baseball skills before Talan's practice this afternoon. :)  I chose to work with the challenges at CASology and clean&simple today.
I thought the travel theme would make a great masculine card so I decided to take that route. I had lots of ideas for the sketch, but they all involved butterflies and flowers at first. :)  I chose one of my favorite masculine stamp sets to work with instead.

Crumb Cake is my absolute favorite neutral and I love using it on masculine cards. I did a layer so I could distress the edges with my new distressing tool from the Spring Catalog and wrap the ribbon around it.  I didn't have any twine left so I cut strips of the Natural Cotton Ribbon that carried over from the Holiday Catalog and then pull the edges off to get this net-like sort of look. I thought it looked very cool with the aquatic theme!  My finally step was to spritz some ink with my Color Spritzer and flick some ink drops with my Aqua Painter. Had to dirty it up a bit to make it look more masculine. :)

Stamp Sets: The Open Sea, Petite Pairs
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Ink: Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist
Tools: Distressing Tool, Aqua Painter, Color Spritzer, 1 1/4" Circle Punch
Accessories: Natural Cotton Ribbon, Dimensionals

  1. Love the frayed ribbon - it ties into the muted natural colours and nautical theme really well! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CASology this week!
