Cleaning Treasures

I have had a wonderful time this past three weeks with my kids home from school...two weeks for Christmas vacation and no school so far this week due to the snow and cold temperatures.  Janae was a HUGE help to me getting my stamping studio cleaned out and organized. Her reward has been all of the goodies that I do not want to keep, so she was happy to help me!  My reward (other than a neat and organized room!) was finding lots of goodies that I had found/bought/saved over the years for crafting purposes.  I don't usually do much besides cards and scrapbook pages, so I am excited to start doing some other types of projects!

My first find was a stack of tiny little clay pots that I got at a garage sale this past summer. It was actually the last garage sale that I went to for the summer. Can you believe I remember that?! lol I know, it wasn't THAT long ago, but I go to a lot of garage sales, so for me that is very impressive. :) Brett's grandma (who is 93 and has better skin than me and I'm just 34! lol) has been having a lot of health problems and has been moved to a full-time care facility after living on her own for years.  I decided to make her a little decorative flower pot to keep in the windowsill of her room.  I used the colors at Dynamic Duos to help get me started.
Nice, cheery colors, don't you think?  I have been dying to use my Spiral Flower Die out of the new Occasions Catalog, so here was the perfect chance!

After I die cut each flower, I stamped them to give them some more color to them.  I used Perfect Pennants, Positively Chevron and Gorgeous Grunge to stamp on the flowers.  I then rolled them around a dowel rod to get them rolled tightly.  The smallest flowers are just part of the die so they would be even smaller.  I then found an old Pretties Kit to do some more embellishing, but you could use regular pearls and hat pins for that part. I covered the pearls with Crystal Effects and then poured on Gold Glitter. I used hot glue to glue everything in place. The hat pin holds my little banners. This was my first time using my new Photopolymer Stamp Set, Countless Sayings 2. It's hard to find sayings small enough to fit on those tiny little banners!  OH!  If you were wondering...the banners, the banner punch and the Baker's Twine will be available to earn during Sale-A-Bration, which starts later this month!  So, there is your sneak peek for the day, I guess. :)
