Make Your Mark

It's a busy day for me today because not only did we have a challenge due at Technique Time Tuesday, we also had a Make Your Mark challenge due at Addicted to Stamps and More! I decided to keep my card pretty simple and used the challenges at CAS(E) this Sketch and Hand Stamped Sentiments.
I knew right away that I wanted to use my new Expressions thinlits from the Holiday Catalog for my sentiment. This was my first try at them, and it went surprisingly well. I had read that it is best to put a piece of wax paper between your cardstock and the thinlit, and that worked perfectly for me. I used a toothpick to easily poke the cardstock out of the thinlit. I even saved the wax paper word in case I want to use it on a project. It is very fragile, so I better do that soon. :)
This is one of those cards that I would probably just hand to someone instead of squishing into an envelope, because the sentiment DOES hang over each side of the card. I could have angled it more to fit it all on the card, but I preferred it like this. After I colored my poppies I added some Dazzling Details for a little bit of glossy effect. I am down to the bottom of the bottle, so it looks more like Crystal Effects than the normal glittery look, which I'm okay with. Might as well use up every little drop!

  1. Hi Shana. Your poppies are so pretty! Love that die-cut sentiment and have it on my wish list! Loll xx

  2. wow Shana, the sentiment worked out perfectly and great job for your first go. I really like that it hangs over the sides. The poppies are coloured fab and the gloss look just right x

  3. ADORBS!! I love that set, I think it is so versatile, and your thinlit expression is AWESOME!! Love those things, thanks so much for sharing with us at HSS!

  4. Hi Shana, LOVE your poppies and that diecut sentiment! Sue x

  5. Gorgeous card Shana. The black sentiment looks stunning. Y'know I have just had some poppies and corn dies. I have tried so many times, with different card, with out success, to cut them out. They break every time. Really disappointing. I will try some wax paper and see if that works. thanks for the tip.
    Hugs, Flo x

  6. Beautiful! The pierced corners are so fun- I would never have thought of that! Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. Your flowers are just so pretty! Fabulous card.

  8. So beautiful, and the sentiment hanging over the edges is genius!
Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS(E) this Sketch this week!

  9. LOVE the poppies and that the sentiment goes outside the edges. Very nice!! xx

  10. I love how the word art spills over the edges, and the piercing, and, well, the flowers, too :D Great job, Shana! Thanks for playing at HSS! Erika

  11. Oh Shanna - nice job on this! I can see that you are getting more comfortable with coloring. Love that the sentiment hangs over the card. Thanks for the tip on the thinlit. I'm placing my order today :o) can't wait to try it.

  12. Hi Shana. Love your poppies. Great idea to have your sentiment overhanging the edges. Love the detail of your paper piercing too. Hugs Monika xxx
