It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

'Twas the night we were cleaning, and all through the house, was a mess of Christmas decorations, and my poor, tired spouse!  Ha!  Poet, I am not, so that is all you get. :)  One of the things Brett pulled out when we were cleaning was an old ceramic Christmas tree that lights up.  Tessa, the 2-year-old that I babysit for, saw it sitting on the table and asked "Is it Christmastime?"  It sure felt like it with the mess we had around here all weekend, similar to the mess that comes after opening presents on Christmas morning!  It did kind of put me in the mood for Christmas, as much as I hate the snow that comes along with it here in Indiana.  When I saw the color combination at Dynamic Duos, I knew it was in the cards for me to make a Christmas card.

I know that many people work on their Christmas cards all year long, but not me!  I usually wait until the end of November, so this was definitely something that was new for me!   Those of you who know me really well know that once a Stampin' Up! product retires, I don't touch it again.  This was another challenge for me, since Poppy Parade just retired with the last catalog.  Now, I know I could have chosen another color of red, but I did have the ink and cardstock sitting here untouched for months, so I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and use it!

My inspiration for the color blocks came from a top I saw in my Glamour magazine.  As soon as I saw it I thought "Ooh, that would look good on a card!"  Funny how we crafters do that with everyday items!  I love how the glimmer items I added to my card coordinate with the Poppy Parade so well.  The brad is actually Real Red and the Dazzling Details is Cherry Cobbler!  The sparkle makes them look multi-toned, allowing them to match several different shades of red!
